Tokyo, Japan; April 6, 2009--Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Taro Iwamoto) has been appointed special sponsor of the Pocari Sweat U-12 Soccer League, organized by the Japan Football Association (JFA). Pocari Sweat will be the official league drink, supporting nationwide elementary school soccer players under the slogan of "our sweat has the power to foster dreams and friendship".

Launched in 2009, the Pocari Sweat U-12 Soccer League will seek to improve the playing environment for each age group, aiming to contribute to the further development of soccer in Japan under the JFA "Players First" youth development program. The objective of the league is to create an infrastructure to provide opportunities for as many elementary school players throughout the year as possible to play in local area environment, without the need to travel long distances.

As special league sponsor, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will provide Pocari Sweat to each team throughout the season. In addition to physical support for young players, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will also participate in seminars for coaches and trainers organized by local football associations, providing information on the importance of fluid replacement and various methods of rehydration during sports.
