Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has finalized cooperative agreements with Kagawa Prefecture, focusing on health promotion and extension of healthy live expectancy^*1 and disaster relief supply. The dual agreements were signed on February 2 at the Kagawa Prefecture Offices.

Recognizing serious issues posed by diabetes and other lifestyle-related illnesses, Kagawa Prefecture has formulated the Healthy Kagawa 21 Health Plan (Term 2)^*2, aiming to unite residents and concerned organizations in developing health promotion measures with the goal of being recognized as "Healthy Longevity Kagawa."

As a comprehensive health care company, Otsuka Pharmaceutical is involved in various activities with local governments and other entities to promote healthy lifestyles. The company has already been involved in cooperative activities with Kagawa Prefecture to promote the health of prefecture residents.

The new health promotion agreement aims to reinforce this alliance. Otsuka will maximize its expertise in prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses, heat stroke countermeasures, and health promotion, aiming to develop initiatives to promote awareness and prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses and contribute to the overall health of Kagawa Prefecture residents.

In the event of a major disaster, Otsuka will also support relief efforts by supplying products based on scientific evidence to contribute to maintaining the health and wellbeing of affected residents.

Under the terms of the agreement, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will work together with Kagawa Prefecture to develop cooperative initiatives as listed below.
