Otsuka Pharmaceutical Enters Into Health Promotion Partnership with Ehime Prefecture

  • Signed on September 12, 2017, the agreement with Ehime Prefecture aims to encourage mutual support and develop a society conducive to healthy and rewarding lifestyles as outlined in the "Ehime Health Promotion 21" prefectural health promotion plan.
  • Otsuka Pharmaceutical will utilize its expertise in prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses, nutritional education, sports promotions, and heat stroke countermeasures to promote extension of healthy life expectancy and contribute to the development of a social environment to support and protect the health of Ehime Prefecture residents.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has entered into a Health Promotion Partnership with Ehime Prefecture, aiming to contribute to the realization of healthy lifestyles for prefectural residents. The agreement was signed on September 12 at the Ehime Prefecture Government Office.

Faced with a declining birthrate, growing proportion of elderly people, and declining population, Ehime Prefecture has identified extension of healthy life expectancy*1, as the primary goal of "Ehime Health Promotion 21*2, the second therm of the prefectural health promotion plan established in line with the Health Japan 21 national health promotion movement. In addition to initiatives to encourage every citizen to focus on maintaining their own health, Ehime Prefecture aims to develop a health promotion movement for the 21st century and foster a social environment to support and protect the health of prefectural residents.

As a comprehensive health care company, Otsuka Pharmaceutical is involved in various activities with local governments and other entitites to promote health and wellbeing. In Ehime Prefecture, the company has already been engaged in public awareness campaigns, providing information to enhance health-consciousness and promote the health of prefectural residents.

With the conclusion of the Health Promotion Partnership, Otsuka will work to reinforce these cooperative initiatives, maximizing expertise in prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses, nutritional education, sports promotions, heat stroke countermeasures, and other areas, and providing health-related information and products based on scientific evidence to promote healthy lifestyles and extend the healthy life expectancy*1, of Ehime Prefecture residents.

Under the terms of the agreement, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will coordinate and cooperate with Ehime Prefecture in the following areas.

  2. 2Initiatives related to development of a social environment to support and protect health
  3. 3Other initiatives required to achieve goals outlined above as agreed upon by both parties.
