Wheelchair Basketball Camp in Ibaraki 2009 was held at the Ibaraki Prefectural University of Health Sciences gymnasium from August 14 through 16. The camp, organized every year since 2001, aims to provide young people, with or without disabilities, with an opportunity to discover the rewarding pleasures of wheelchair basketball. Expanding the horizons of people with disabilities, the camp aims to share the joy of sports with more people every year. Coached by a graduate of the University of Illinois in the U.S.A. and Japanese players active on the nationwide level, the camp has been held once a year since 2001.

Attended by 50 athletes from throughout Japan, including seven players from Ibaraki Prefecture, this year's camp consisted of a two-night, three-day schedule of challenging practice sessions and skirmishes. Among the participants were 20 able-bodied athletes, primarily university students from throughout Japan.
