Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has announced the introduction of conditioning food BODYMAINTÉ Jelly. The new brand will be launched on April 17, 2017, and will be available through the 'otsuka-plus1.com' online store and other channels.

Athletes who pursue rigorous training regimens may be at risk of illness due to lowered immunity, leading to concerns about appropriate volume and intensity of conditioning in preparation for competition*3. Aware of these and other concerns about athlete's physical condition, Otsuka Pharmaceutical developed new BODYMAINTÉ Jelly, formulated with lactic acid bacterium B240 (unique Otsuka Pharmaceutical ingredient), BCAA + arginine, and whey protein. Contributing to maintenance of optimum physical condition and recovery from exercise stress, BODYMAINTÉ Jelly supports conditioning for maximum performance.
BODYMAINTÉ Jelly was developed as a result of research into the digestive tract, exercise, and nutrition carried out at the Otsuka Pharmaceutical Otsu Nutraceuticals Research Institute.

In addition to athletes who are concerned with results, BODYMAINTÉ Jelly supports physical fitness to enable people who encounter various risks in the course of daily life to maintain optimum condition and perform at their best.

While the current market for sports nutrition products focuses primarily on enhanced performance, Otsuka Pharmaceutical has developed a conditioning food that focuses on training as the basis of performance and offers new value by addressing the unmet conditioning needs of both athletes and members of the general public.

Lactic acid bacterium B240

Recommended for alleviating risks associated with physical conditioning
Lactic acid bacterium B240 was isolated by researchers at Tokyo University of Agriculture from miang, a form of fermented tea leaves traditionally consumed in northern Thailand. In 2006, findings were published from collaborative research conducted by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Otsu Nutraceuticals Research Institute and Prefectural University of Kumamoto proved efficacy of this new strain of lactic acid bacteria in enhancing biological defense mechanisms. Lactic acid bacterium B240 provides support for athletes exposed to risks associated with rigorous training and those who aim to maintain optimum physical condition.

BCAA+arginine

Support recovery from physical stress and muscle strain
Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) is a general term for essential amino acids valine, leucine, and isoleucine, which are metabolized in muscle tissue. During exercise, muscle protein is broken down into amino acids, with BCAA serving as an energy source.

Whey protein

Supports hard training and demanding physical conditioning
Whey protein, contained in the liquid (whey) which remains after casein and fats are removed from milk, is quickly absorbed and efficiently utilized by muscles and other tissues. Whey protein is recommended for physical conditioning and muscle recovery after training.

Logo design concept

The fresh green brand color evokes the bright green of new tea leaves, reflecting the origins of lactic acid bacterium B240, which is extracted from miang, a form of fermented tea leaves traditionally consumed in northern Thailand. The black line beneath the product name represents a barrier to guard against risk and ensure stable training, while the white line represents the goal tape that athletes strive for.
