Disaster relief

Otsuka Group companies are working together to provide ongoing support for recovery efforts.

When the Great East Japan Earthquake struck on March 11, 2011, Otsuka Group companies mobilized their local offices to provide emergency relief supplies (beverages, water, and food supplies). Otsuka Group employees from across Japan took turns assisting relief efforts from a base in Sendai City, supplying oral rehydration solutions to evacuation centers to address dehydration among evacuees and leveraging Otsuka's assets for relief efforts. The Otsuka Group also provided relief supplies in response to requests from government authorities and industry associations, and Otsuka Holdings made a large donation to the Japanese Red Cross Society on behalf of the 39,000 employees of the Otsuka Group (including non-consolidated companies). Continuing this support effort, Otsuka Group companies are still supplying Otsuka products and organizing lectures on radiation and health matters with invited speakers, while employees continue to raise money for people in need.

The Otsuka Group also encourages employees who wish to work as volunteers by giving them the freedom to take time off from work. The Otsuka Group will continue finding ways to provide ongoing support following disasters.
