Tokyo, Japan - PT. Amerta Indah Otsuka (Head Office: Jakarta, Indonesia; President: Yoshihiro Bando) a local Indonesian affiliate of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Taro Iwamoto) has announced completion of the Kejayan Factory, a new Pocari Sweat production facility in the province of East Java, Indonesia. A ceremony was held on May 26, 2010 to mark the completion of the new factory.

Initially introduced in Japan in 1980, Pocari Sweat is a thirst-quenching beverage that replenishes vital fluids and electrolytes lost through perspiration. Launched in Indonesia in 1989, local sales have grown steadily, increasing approximately 30% year-on-year in 2009 to approximately 450 million units per year. Initially produced at the Sukabumi Factory in the province of West Java, recent increases in demand for Pocari Sweat led to the construction of the Kejayan Factory in the province of East Java.

Kejayan Factory has adopted a positive pressure sterile bottling line^* that permits an approximately 20% (approx. 4.5 g) reduction in the weight of 350ml PET bottles, reducing the volume of petroleum-derived resin required for bottling. Actively engaged in environmental preservation initiatives, the new factory has also received ISO14001 certification.

Planned in keeping with the concept of "Open Space and Community Interaction", the Kejayan Factory grounds incorporate the following focal points for interaction with the local community.

1. Green Plaza: Recreation and soccer ground
2. Mosque: Open to members of the community for weekly Friday prayers and during the month of Ramadan
3. Regional Educational Center: PT. Amerta Indah Otsuka employees provide support for education of local children

• * Room temperature Pocari Sweat is bottled in a sterile booth. Before the cap is sealed, the container is topped off with nitrogen and subjected to positive pressure. In addition to reducing the weight of the PET bottles while maintaining their strength, the bottles are also easy to flatten for recycling.
