Otsuka Pharmaceutical's Fukuroi Factory Receives FY2011 METI Minister Award for Factories Making an Outstanding Contribution to the Environment

  • 36.6% of the factory's 111,407 m2 site consists of greenery
  • Lawn maintenance is performed by employees and is not entirely dependent on chemical agents
  • Fukuroi Factory was also recognized for its active involvement in the local community and factory tour program that fosters awareness of its environmental activities

Tokyo, Japan ― Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Taro Iwamoto) announced today that its Fukuroi Factory was presented with a FY2011 METI Minister Award for Factories Making an Outstanding Contribution to the Environment on January 31, 2012 at Ishigaki Memorial Hall.

This award was created to promote factory greenery initiatives as well as greater factory involvement in the local community and is presented to factories in Japan that have achieved significant results in their environmental activities. Factories are selected based on the recommendations of the local prefectural governor. For 2011, two factories were selected to receive the award.
