Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has announced the December 1, 2015 launch of POCARI SWEAT in the Kingdom of Cambodia, the most recent expansion of overseas distribution of the popular ion supply drink, initially launched in 1980 in Japan. POCARI SWEAT produced by Otsuka Group subsidiary Dong-A Otsuka Co., Ltd. in the Republic of Korea will be sold through a local distribution agent in Cambodia. Following the Cambodian market launch, POCARI SWEAT is now distributed in 20 markets and regions around the world.

POCARI SWEAT Launched in Cambodia on December 1, 2015
- Sales of ion supply beverage POCARI SWEAT were officially launched in the growing Cambodian market from December 1, 2015.
- Since the 1980 launch of POCARI SWEAT in Japan, Otsuka has steadily expanded overseas distribution. With the official launch in Cambodia, POCARI SWEAT is now available in 20 countries and regions*1. Cambodian GDP has doubled over the past 10 years*2. In recent years, an increasing number of Japanese corporations have been investing in Cambodia, along with ASEAN neighbors Vietnam and Myanmar, leading to increased expectations for economic growth in Cambodia and in the region as a whole.
The ratio of young people in the Cambodian population is increasing rapidly, and the market for soft drinks shows great potential for growth. Otsuka Pharmaceutical has contracted with a local distribution agent for the December 1, 2015 launch of POCARI SWEAT in the growing Cambodian market.
