Otsuka Pharmaceutical Enters into Health Promotion Partnership with Gifu Prefecture

  • Cooperative agreement concluded with Gifu Prefecture, which aims to promote healthy spiritually rewarding local communities and revitalize industry through sports.
  • Otsuka Pharmaceutical will utilize its expertise in areas such as nutritional education, heat stroke countermeasures, prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses, sports promotion, and disaster mitigation, working together with Gifu Prefecture to contribute to maintenance and promotion of prefectural residents' health, sports promotion, and revitalization of local communities.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has entered into Health Promotion Partnership with Gifu Prefecture, aiming to extend healthy life expectancy*1 and achieve healthy lifestyles for prefectural residents. The agreement was signed on July 7 at the Gifu Prefecture Offices.

As a comprehensive health care company, Otsuka Pharmaceutical is involved in various activities with local governments and other entities to maintain and promote healthy lifestyles.

Under the Health Plan Gifu 21, Term 2*2, Gifu Prefecture has mounted a movement to improve the health of prefectural residents, uniting government and private interests in efforts to enhance the quality of life, reduce fatalities in the prime of life, and extend healthy life expectancy, with a particular focus on prevention of onset and progression of lifestyle-related illnesses.
Considering sports to be indispensible for maintenance and promotion of mental and physical health and healthy longevity, Gifu Prefecture is pursuing an official sports promotion program, aiming to maximize the power of sports under the banner of Sports Prefecture Gifu*3. Encouraging prefectural residents from youngsters to the elderly to enjoy a lifetime of sports appropriate for age, interests and aptitudes, Gifu Prefecture aims to promote healthy and spiritually rewarding local communities and revitalize industry.

To date, Otsuka Pharmaceutical has been involved in various initiatives to promote the health of Gifu Prefecture residents, including nutritional education, heat stroke countermeasures, prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses, sports promotion, and disaster mitigation initiatives.
With the conclusion of the Health Promotion Partnership, Otsuka will be further involved in promotion of healthy lifestyles, prevention of illness, and extended healthy life expectancy. Otsuka will work together with Gifu Prefecture to provide information and products based on scientific evidence to contribute to maintenance and promotion of prefectural residents' health, sports promotion, and revitalization of local communities.

Under the terms of the agreement, Otsuka Pharmaceutical and Gifu Prefecture will cooperate to maximize resources and capabilities in activities as outlined below.
