Otsuka Pharmaceutical Enters into Cooperative Agreement
with Ministry of the Environment
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Otsuka) has entered into an agreement with the Ministry of the Environment, aiming to reduce the incidence of heat disorder emergencies by encouraging widespread awareness and establishment of preventive measures as well as developing local and regional initiatives to minimize risk of heat disorders. The agreement was finalized on July 24, 2023.

Otsuka has been engaged in initiatives to promote public awareness of heat disorder countermeasures for more than 30 years. The company has concluded cooperative agreements with all of Japan's 47 prefectural and metropolitan governments as well as local entities throughout Japan, collaborating to resolve various health-related issues based on local and regional needs. Favorable evaluation of these activities paved the way for the new agreement with the Ministry of the Environment.
Under the agreement, Otsuka will cooperate and collaborate with the Ministry of the Environment to promote awareness and adoption of heat disorder countermeasures.
Outline of the agreement
1. Implementation of public awareness and educational initiatives to promote understanding and establishment of measures to prevent heat disorders
2. Cooperation with local public entities to support strengthening of heat disorder countermeasures
(Contribution to operation of local councils and other organizations for monitoring and contacting those at higher risk of suffering heat disorders, such as children and the elderly)
3. Organization of seminars and lectures to familiarize local leaders with initiatives to prevent heat disorders
4. Ongoing cooperation to encourage widespread awareness and establishment of measures to prevent heat disorders and strengthening of local initiatives
■Otsuka Pharmaceutical initiatives to prevent heat disorders
Since 1992, Otsuka has worked with numerous organizations to promote awareness and prevention of heat disorders in sports, school, and work scenarios, addressing audiences ranging from children to the elderly. In recent years, Otsuka has entered into cooperative agreements with local governments and other entities, collaborating on a variety of public health awareness activities based on specific local and regional needs.
