• The February 19, 2016 agreement covers the Healthy Aomori 21 (Phase 2) program and aims to extend healthy life expectancy

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has entered into a Health Literacy Enhancement Corporation Partnership Agreement with Aomori Prefecture. The Aomori Prefectural Government is coordinating initiatives to promote health and wellbeing, aiming to ensure outstanding healthy life expectancy for Aomori prefectural citizens. The partnership agreement was signed on February 19, 2016 at the Aomori Prefecture Government Offices.

As befitting a healthcare company, Otsuka Pharmaceutical is engaged in various health-related partnerships with local governments and other entities. Aomori Prefecture is actively seeking cooperative partnerships with industry, academia and citizens to encourage healthy lifestyles and promote cancer prevention programs with the goal of realizing a healthy aging society for Aomori residents.
Under the Health Literacy Enhancement Corporation Partnership Agreement entered into on February 19, Otsuka will work together with Aomori Prefecture, maximizing its expertise in areas such as heat stroke countermeasures, prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses, nutritional education, and sports promotion to create a framework for initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles, prevent illness and contribute to health literacy and healthy longevity of prefectural citizens.

Based on the agreement, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will cooperate in activities related to promotion of health and wellbeing, including but not limited to the following:

1. 1Actively promote health and wellbeing of employees and their families
2. 2Encourage regular general physical examinations and cancer screening for employees and their families
3. 3Provision of accurate cancer prevention information for employees and their families
4. 4Support for employees undergoing cancer treatment (including individuals in remission)
5. 5Participation and cooperation in educational efforts undertaken by Aomori Prefecture to promote awareness of healthy lifestyles and boost cancer screening rates
6. 6Distribution at customer service counters of pamphlets, posters, and other materials related to healthy lifestyles and cancer prevention as part of educational campaign targeting prefectural residents
7. 7Support for and cooperation with cancer patient support groups
8. 8Other initiatives to enhance the general health of prefectural residents and promote cancer prevention programs in Aomori Prefecture
