• Under the agreement, signed on October 17, 2016, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will assure smooth and rapid deployment of personnel, commodities, and equipment in cooperation with Fukui Prefecture's aims for early stabilization of prefectural residents' living conditions in event of a disaster.
• Otsuka will utilize expertise in areas such as disaster relief, heat stroke countermeasures, and nutritional education to provide health-related information and products to contribute to maintenance of health and wellbeing of Fukui Prefecture residents in case of a disaster.

Signing Ceremony at the Fukui Prefectural Government

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has entered into an agreement with Fukui Prefecture to provide emergency relief supplies to contribute to the early stabilization of prefectural residents' living conditions in the event of a disaster. The agreement was signed on October 17 at the Fukui Prefecture Government Offices.

Fukui Prefecture has been proactive in concluding disaster relief agreements with private groups, corporations and organizations to ensure rapid deployment of personnel, commodities, and equipment in case of a disaster.

As a comprehensive healthcare company, Otsuka Pharmaceutical is engaged in various health-related partnerships with local governments and other entities.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical has already been engaged in various health awareness and education activities for residents of Fukui Prefecture. The current disaster relief supply agreement was influenced by Otsuka Pharmaceutical relief supply and other efforts following flooding of the Asuwa River in 2004^*. Under the terms of the agreement, Otsuka will cooperate to provide beverage and/or food relief supplies as requested by Fukui Prefecture.

Aiming to reinforce cooperative ties with Fukui Prefecture, Otsuka will maximize expertise in disaster relief, heat stroke countermeasures, and nutritional education to provide information based on scientific evidence and supplies to contribute to maintenance of health and wellbeing and early stabilization of living conditions for Fukui Prefecture residents in the event of a disaster.
