Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Makoto Inoue; hereinafter Otsuka), has announced the launch of tocoelle, a supplement to support women bothered by pre-menstrual fluctuations. The new supplement will be available through medical practitioners and e-commerce sites beginning November 18, 2021.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical has pursued research related to women's health, focusing on emotional and physical fluctuations in an effort to support women to live individually, comfortably, beautifully, day-to-day. Following the introduction of the EQUELLE series of products containing soybean isoflavone metabolite equol, Otsuka has been conducting public health awareness campaigns to enhance women's health literacy. In the course of these activities, tocoelle was developed as a result of focusing on premenstrual symptoms related to women's monthly cycles. Based on scientific evidence, the combination of four active components in tocoelle offers gentle support for emotional and physical premenstrual fluctuations affecting approximately 80% of women.

Four components to alleviate emotional and physical fluctuations

• γ-tocopherol (90mg) / γ-tocotrienol (15mg)

  Soy oil and rice oil are rich sources of these types of vitamin E. Their metabolites address the cyclical emotional and physical fluctuations that all women must face. With a mechanism that differs from standard vitamin E (α-tocopherol), these ingredients are becoming a focus of attention as support for women's health and wellbeing.

• Equol (2mg)

  Produced when soy isoflavones are metabolized by intestinal bacteria, equol is an ingredient that supports women's health and beauty. However, among younger Japanese women, only one in five have the capacity to produce equol, even if they consume soy-based foods.^*2

• Calcium (250mg)

  Calcium, a mineral often lacking in Japanese diets, is a nutrient of particular importance for women. It is said that women in their 20s to 40s should increase daily consumption of calcium by 200mg to 250mg .^*3

γ-tocopherol and γ-tocotrienol are contained in a soft capsule; equol and calcium in soybean-shaped tablets. Each daily dose of three pills is individually packaged in convenient packets of seven doses for consumption over a single week.

Origins of tocoelle product name

The tocoelle product name reflects the primary ingredient γ-tocopherol (toco) and the French word for woman (elle).
