Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Otsuka Pharmaceutical) has announced the September 27, 2022 launch in Indonesia of the OTSUKA BLUE PLANET sustainability program by Otsuka Pharmaceutical subsidiary, PT Amerta Indah Otsuka. The new sustainability program aims to contribute to environmental efforts in Indonesia.

Consisting of three priority projects, ECO Village, ECO Blue School and ECO Bottle, the OTSUKA BLUE PLANET program aims to contribute to environmental efforts in Indonesia through collaboration with national and local governments in resource recycling and public awareness initiatives.

① ECO Village Project

Working with local governments and residents in the vicinity of Sukabumi and Kejayan factories, this project aims to build environmental awareness and promote autonomous refuse disposal and waste management efforts on a community level.

②ECO Blue School Project

This project aims to foster school communities that encourage high school students and educators to make a habit of separating recyclable plastic resources and practice sustainable plastic bottle disposal management.

③ ECO Bottle Project

Beginning in August 2022, POCARI SWEAT produced in Indonesia^*1 is sold in PET bottles made with 30% recycled PET resin^*2. The Otsuka group adopted the Otsuka Group Plastic Policy in 2020. The policy calls for phased introduction of recycled and plant-based materials for PET bottles with the global goal of 100% use by 2030.

In recent years, Indonesia has been seeking to raise public literacy and implement concrete environmental initiatives to address littering and other environmental issues. The OTSUKA BLUE PLANET program aims to collaborate with national and local government agencies to make a sustainable contribution to environmental efforts in Indonesia.

Based on the 2050 Environmental Vision, "Net Zero," the Otsuka group aims to reduce the environmental impact of its business activities to zero, seeking to contribute to achievement of a sustainable society through group-wide efforts.
