New addition to fruit soy bar SOYJOY 'plus' series lineup
SOYJOY Orange Folic Acid Plus Debuts October 1, 2008
Tokyo, Japan, August 28, 2008 -- Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Taro Iwamoto) today announced the October 1 launch of SOYJOY Orange Folic Acid Plus, the second addition to the 'Plus' series of the popular fruit soy bar SOYJOY line.
SOYJOY Orange Folic Acid Plus is a nutrition product offering a convenient, delicious way to enjoy the nutritional benefits of soy, the same as other products in the SOYJOY line. In addition, it is fortified with folic acid, one of the B vitamins abundant in soybeans. SOYJOY Orange Folic Acid Plus is characterized by refreshing orange flavor and fragrance and the pleasing texture of orange peel.
SOYJOY Orange Folic Acid Plus is a food with nutrient function claims* containing 200μg of folic acid, a nutrient currently the focus of considerable attention. Folic acid is a nutrient that assists in the formation of red blood cells and contributes to normal fetal development. In addition to expected mothers and women of childbearing age, folic acid is recommended for a wide segment of the general population.
- *Food with nutrient function claims: At present, 17 nutritional ingredients are recognized for nutrient function claims. Foods containing a given amount of government-specified nutrients are permitted to label its nutrient function.
To coincide with the launch of SOYJOY Orange Folic Acid Plus, packaging for the SOYJOY 'Plus' series has been redesigned to clearly identify the added nutrients. The new packaging will be used for the new SOYJOY Orange Folic Acid Plus and for SOYJOY Prune Fe Plus, which was launched in October 2007.
Containing no wheat flour, SOYJOY is a new type of nutrition product baked from dough made of powdered whole soybeans (hulled soybeans) and generous amounts of real fruit. Launched in April 2006, cumulative sales of SOYJOY topped the 200 million unit mark in April 2008. Providing a convenient, portable way to take advantage of the nutritional benefits of soy, SOYJOY has earned a popular following among a wide segment of the population and health-conscious individuals in particular.
