Tokyo, Japan -- Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Taro Iwamoto) has announced the November 1, 2012 launch at drugstores throughout Japan of Kenja no Shokutaku (The Wise Man's Dining) Double Support, approved as a Food for Specified Health Uses (FOSHU)* with the claims of ① Suppressing the absorption of sugars to limit rises in blood glucose levels after a meal; and ② Suppressing the absorption of lipids to limit rises in triglycerides after a meal. This is the first FOSHU launch in Japan to receive approval for the dual function of limiting absorption of both sugars and lipids.
