Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has announced the establishment with Hirosaki University (President: Kei Sato) of a Joint Research Chair for Women's Health Promotion within the Hirosaki University Graduate School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Professor: Yoshihito Yokoyama).
The newly established Joint Research Chair for Women's Health Promotion aims to maximize information gained through a variety of health-related projects implemented by Hirosaki University to contribute to enhancing healthy longevity and improving quality of life for women in particular through promotion of research focusing on equol, with the aim of sharing research results with society, contributing to the health and wellbeing of Aomori Prefecture citizens, and communicating the latest discoveries and solutions to relevant organizations in Japan and around the world.
Hirosaki University promotes basic research and research that contributes to the growth and development of local communities, with a focus on issues related to the four key areas of renewable energy, the environment, radiation emergency medicine, and food and food production. Joint Research Chairs are research units established within the University with the support of funding from corporations and other organizations.
