A Delicious Snack That's Good for You
Announcing SOYJOY Coffee & Nuts
Soy protein from low-GI whole soy
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Otsuka) has announced the launch of SOYJOY Coffee & Nuts, a new addition to the popular selection of SOYJOY brand nutrition bars made with nuts. New SOYJOY Coffee & Nuts will be launched nationwide in Japan on March 22, 2021.
Focusing on plant-based proteins and other abundant nutrients of soy, Otsuka has been developing new ways to take advantage of these health benefits. SOYJOY is a gluten-free food made of highly nutritious whole soybean flour, incorporating the pleasing texture of fruits and nuts in a variety of flavors.
Due to recent changes in living styles such as avoidance of outings and working from home, people are spending more time at home and find themselves eating more often*1. An Otsuka Pharmaceutical survey*2 revealed feelings of "anxiety and guilt" and "concern for health" caused by between-meal snacking and an increased desire to consume "healthy snacks," indicating a heightened awareness of healthy dietary habits.
SOYJOY Coffee & Nuts is a chewy coffee-flavored bar packed with fragrant crunchy nuts, characterized by a pleasing bitter flavor and just-right sweetness conceived to appeal to adult palates. The coffee and nuts combination is a typical choice for an afternoon break. In addition to the nutritional benefits of whole soy, this low GI food contains soy isoflavones, making it not only a tasty mid-afternoon boost of energy, but also a positive choice that meets health and nutrition needs for those who want to control intake of sugars or who are looking for a delicious way to obtain additional protein.
Based on the corporate philosophy of 'Otsuka - people creating new products for better health worldwide,' Otsuka Pharmaceutical continues to contribute to the health and well being of people around the world.

About Low GI Foods
'GI' stands for 'glycemic index,' a measurement of how carbohydrates and sugars in foods affect blood sugar levels. A low GI indicates gradual absorption of carbohydrates, which is said to offer benefits for weight control. Foods with a glycemic index of 55 or less are considered low GI. All SOYJOY products are recognized as low GI foods.
Launched in 2006, SOYJOY nutrition bars offer a delicious, convenient way to enjoy protein, soy isoflavones, and other nutritional benefits of soy. A low GI food containing approximately 35 whole soybeans in each bar, the selection of flavorful SOYJOY snack bars has steadily expanded. In addition to the original line of SOYJOY bars, the SOYJOY Crispy series features the light and crunchy texture of puffed soy, while the SOYJOY Scone Bar offers the moist texture of a plain scone, accented by coarsely ground soybeans.
