Our key environmental issues are deliberated and decided upon at the Otsuka Holdings Environmental Committee, which consists of the Executive Deputy President and Director of Otsuka Holdings and the directors or officers of each group company.The matters concerning the overall direction of the group are shared with each company as the Otsuka Group’s policy after being deliberated and approved by the Otsuka Holdings Board of Directors.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical has set up the Otsuka Pharmaceutical Environmental and Social Committee, which creates targets and implementation plans aligned with the group's environmental policy and business activities. The Environmental Subcommittee discusses specific initiatives, which are then tailored to each business site's characteristics by the Environmental Promotion Committee.

To achieve sustainable development in an environmentally friendly way, the results of these initiatives are regularly reviewed, discussions are held to address challenges, and the outcomes are incorporated into company-wide promotion plans.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical is committed to reducing the environmental impact and managing environmental risks associated with its corporate activities. To achieve this, it has established a system appropriate to the size of the impact of each type of work. Eight plants and major research facilities in Japan have obtained ISO 14001 certification, while sales operations sites have implemented and are continually improving environmental management systems based on ISO 14001. In August 2020, the Otsuka group obtained an integrated ISO 14001 certification, strengthening its environmental governance. All business sites within the Otsuka group strive for sustainable development by complying with ISO 14001 standards.
