Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Otsuka) will once again host the free outdoor live event EXCITING SUMMER in WAJIKI 2024 on August 13 on the grassy open plaza of the Tokushima Wajiki Factory. The event, celebrating its 35th anniversary, will be co-sponsored with local organizations. This year, in addition to enhancing event hospitality by implementing new heat illness prevention measures for safe event management, the event will feature the horizontal recycling initiative "bottle-to-bottle." The vibrant event, known locally as "ExciSummer", has become a summer tradition in Tokushima, and aims to contribute to the revitalization and development of the region, the birthplace of the Otsuka group.

This live event began in 1990, a year after our factory was established in the industrial park of Wajiki-cho, Tokushima Prefecture (now Naka-cho, Naka-gun) by young members of the Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations as a way to attract young people and energize the community. Now an established summer event, the concert is known by the nickname, "ExciSummer."

• Horizontal Recycling "Bottle to Bottle" Initiative

Otsuka is collaborating with Naka-cho, with whom we have signed a partnership agreement regarding the bottle-to-bottle initiative, to conduct a separate collection of used PET bottles at the live event venue. The collected bottles will be processed and converted into materials for recycled PET bottles. These materials will then be used to produce new PET bottles, which will be reused as beverage containers by our company and other beverage manufacturers.

A three-member group featuring male and female twin vocals and blending a wide range of musical influences. The group performed in the audience-free web broadcast of ExciSummer 2022.
【STU48】
An idol group from the AKB48 family based in the Setouchi area of Japan. The group generally performs in seven of Japan's prefectures in western Japan.
【BERRY GOODMAN】
The group held a solo concert at the 16,000-capacity Osaka Jo Hall Arena just five years after its formation, and tickets sold out instantly. In 2023, the vocal unit was appointed the "100th Anniversary Ambassadors for Hanshin Koshien Stadium."

• About the Tokushima Wajiki Factory

The factory was established in 1989 and currently produces Calorie Mate Block and pharmaceutical products. It is located in the southern part of Tokushima Prefecture, near the clear-flowing Nakagawa River. It was created as a factory park in harmony with its natural environment and local community and is committed to environmental conservation and improvement.

Alongside ExciSummer, we take part in the Awa Odori, a traditional cultural event dating back over 400 years. We will also participate in the ORONAMIN C DRINK PRESENTS Awa Odori Sound Festival, a free outdoor concert held annually on August 11 in Tokushima Central Park at the Washi-no-mon (Eagle Gate) Plaza as a pre-festival event for the Awa Odori.
