Support for career independence
We believe that empowering each employee to proactively reflect on and shape their own career is essential to fostering the sustained growth of both individuals and the organization. With an emphasis on the importance of short-term and mid- to long-term career autonomy, we provide appropriate evaluation and feedback, and support employees across the company in taking ownership of their career development so they can work toward self-realization.
Otsuka Pharmaceutical operates a wide range of businesses built on two core pillars, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals, offering employees diverse career options that extend across business domains.

Self-understanding assessment test*
We provide all employees with access to a generic-skills assessment and development tool designed to deepen self-understanding and visualize individual strengths, helping them apply these insights to the development of their own capabilities. Assessment results serve as useful reference points during one-on-one meetings and when considering future career paths.
At Otsuka Pharmaceutical, we believe that recognizing and further strengthening each individual’s strengths enables us to respect what makes them unique, which in turn helps drive the realization of DE&I.
- *We use PROG@Work, an assessment tool that visualizes personal strengths and growth areas.
HR Department interviews
In addition to the annual employee engagement survey, HR interviewers conduct individual interviews with all employees (approximately 2,000 people each year). These interviews are intended to promote career autonomy and support employee growth. Through direct dialogue, we work to create a workplace environment where diverse talent can thrive, while building a support system that enables employees to take ownership of their careers, ultimately making Otsuka a more fulfilling place to work.
Self-reporting system
Employees may submit information to the HR Department about their current role, opinions or suggestions regarding their workplace, and their preferred future career plans. The system, conducted once a year, aims to support further skill development, appropriate placement, and improvements to the work environment.
Internal job posting system
This program is available to employees working within the Otsuka Group in Japan and provides opportunities to apply for positions across the Group, including transfers to other companies within the group. This fosters an environment that supports cross-group career development.
