Sustainability Management Structure
Message from the executive in charge of sustainability
Advancing sustainability-driven management
to become an indispensable contributor to people’s health worldwide

Otsuka Pharmaceutical is guided by our corporate philosophy, Otsuka-people creating new products for better health worldwide. As a total healthcare company, we strive to support the unique potential of each individual while contributing to the health of people around the world. In doing so, we have continued to create unique value. At its core is a sustainability management approach that seeks to achieve both the resolution of social issues and the company’s sustainable growth.
Today, society is at a turning point. Challenges such as climate change, resource constraints, human rights issues, and geopolitical risks are becoming increasingly complex and interconnected. As they evolve at speed, solutions are becoming harder to identify. At the same time, as people’s lifestyles, values, and awareness of health continue to evolve, expectations for healthcare are also changing. These now extend beyond addressing visible health issues to encompass a state of physical, mental, and social well-being.
Otsuka Pharmaceutical views health not only as physical and mental states, but as a comprehensive concept of total healthcare that includes connections to daily life and society. Through our two core business domains, the Pharmaceutical Business and the Nutraceutical Business, the company provides products and services ranging from the diagnosis and treatment of disease to the daily maintenance and promotion of health. This enables a distinctive approach to healthcare. Based on this concept of total healthcare, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will continue to proactively identify evolving health needs and social challenges, engage with them directly, and strive to realize the well-being of society as a whole and a sustainable future.
Driven by the questions and actions of each individual employee, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will strengthen our governance and continue to create value together with stakeholders. In doing so, the company aims to achieve both long-term corporate value and the sustainability of society. At Otsuka Pharmaceutical, we aspire to be an indispensable contributor to people’s health worldwide.
