Soy and the environment
In order to raise beef cattle, feed such as soybeans is required. However, if people choose to eat soybeans directly:
When comparing the consumption of soybeans and the equivalent weight of beef*
For each soybean eaten, about 10 times the amount of feed (such as soybeans) is needed to produce the same amount (by weight) of beef.
Furthermore, when comparing the amount of protein provided by soybeans, and the amount provided by beef*
For each soybean eaten, about 32 times the amount of feed (such as soybeans) is needed to obtain the same amount of protein from beef.
