Proud to claim Tokushima as its birthplace and aiming to contribute to sustaining the 400-year tradition of the Awa Odori, Otsuka Pharmaceutical organized the Otsuka Ren* company dance team in 1988. Subsequently performing at the Awa Odori Festival every summer on August 12, the Otsuka Ren is currently composed of employees from Otsuka offices in Tokushima, Osaka, and Tokyo who undergo rigorous training with instructors from famous Awa Odori teams. Those who pass the screening gather in Tokushima to perform their polished dance moves for the festival crowds. This year, a group of 100 employees displayed their coordinated routines at the Awa Odori Festival. The Otsuka Ren continues to seek new challenges, all dedicated to perpetuating a traditional style of the Awa Odori.

Sponsored in conjunction with local organizations, Exciting Summer in WAJIKI, is a free-admission outdoor concert held every summer at the Otsuka Pharmaceutical Tokushima Wajiki Factory. First held in 1990, the year after completion of the factory, the annual outdoor concert, initially organized by young members of the Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations as a way to energize the community, has become an established summer event, known by the nickname "ExciSummer." Marking its 30th anniversary in 2019, this year's event, christened "ExciSummer + pluSTAGE", featured an extensive lineup of performers, including dancers, as well as a science show and other attractions. The opening act, as was the case last year, was selected by audition. The outdoor venue came alive with the energy generated between the performers and the audience. Tours of the Calorie Mate production facility were offered to familiarize visitors with the Wajiki factory and its products. Exciting Summer in WAJIKI 2019 was attended by approximately 3,500 fans.

Launched in 1990, the Awa Odori Sound Festival is also marking its 30th anniversary in 2019. This free concert event is held at the Eagle Gate Plaza in Tokushima Central Park annually on August 11, on the eve of the Awa Odori Festival. This year, two topical dance/vocal groups performed. Attracting approximately 2,500 attendees from throughout Japan, the Sound Festival venue was energized with enthusiasm.
