New addition to fruit soy bar SOYJOY lineup
SOYJOY Prune Fe Plus Debuts October 1, 2007 in Japan
Tokyo, Japan -- Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) today announced the October 1, 2007 launch of SOYJOY Prune Fe Plus, a new addition to the popular fruit soy bar SOYJOY line in Japan.
SOYJOY Prune Fe Plus, a nutritious bar-shaped product baked from dough made of powdered whole soybeans*, also contains a generous amount of sun-ripened prunes and fragrant nuts. The quantity of Fe (iron) naturally occurring in soy has been fortified to 5mg per bar, making SOYJOY Prune Fe Plus, an easy way to supplement iron, a vital nutrient that is often not available in sufficient amounts.
Dietary guidelines published by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in 2005 recommend that adult women consume 10.5mg of iron per day. However, women in their 20s and 30s tend to average only 7mg per day, indicating that many women are not receiving an adequate supply of iron.
