Otsuka Pharmaceutical Enters Into Comprehensive Regional Revitalization Partnership with Kyoto Prefecture
- Signed on March 23, 2018, the agreement will support Kyoto Prefecture in efforts to extend healthy life expectancy.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has entered into a comprehensive partnership agreement with Kyoto Prefecture, finalized on March 23, aiming to contribute to the revitalization of local communities and improvement of services for prefectural residents through close mutual cooperation.

Based on the Healthy Kyoto 21 (Term 2)*1 comprehensive prefectural health promotion plan, Kyoto Prefecture aims to promote a variety of citizen, regional, corporate, and local government initiatives to contribute to the health and wellbeing of Kyoto Prefecture residents. Adopting the principles of health promotion*2, Kyoto Prefecture is proactively supporting approaches to support individual residents in their personal efforts as well as creating health-support environments tailored to regional characteristics with the aim of extending healthy life expectancy*3 and enabling prefectural residents to live active, healthy lives. Established in 2015, the Kyoto Healthy Life Expectancy • Disease Prevention Center*4 is among the multifaceted approaches adopted by Kyoto Prefecture.
As befitting a healthcare company, Otsuka Pharmaceutical is involved in various activities with local governments and other entities to promote healthy lifestyles.
As a constituent member of the Kyoto Healthy Life Expectancy Promotion Prefectural Assemby*5, Otsuka has been working with the Kyoto prefectural government, related organizations and groups to promote the health and wellbeing of prefectural residents.
The new comprehensive partnership aims to reinforce this cooperative relationship. Otsuka will maximize its expertise in nutritional education, prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses, sports promotions, heat stroke countermeasures, women's health, disaster mitigation and other areas, providing health-related information and products based on scientific evidence to contribute to improvement of services, revitalization of local communities, and extension of healthy life expectancy for Kyoto Prefecture residents.
