Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) has entered into a cooperative agreement with Niigata Prefecture, aiming to promote health and wellbeing with the objective of extending healthy life expectancy for Niigata Prefecture residents. The agreement was finalized on September 12, 2019.

Aiming to earn a reputation as a "Healthful Prefecture" where people from all generations can lead vigorous and energetic lives with top-class levels of healthy life expectancy, Niigata Prefecture has initiated a prefecture-wide Health Promotion Project^*2 and is seeking to promote social awareness and involvement through alliances with companies and organizations in various fields.

As a comprehensive health care company, Otsuka Pharmaceutical is involved in various activities with local governments and other entities to promote health and wellbeing, and has already been engaged in health-related public information campaigns and other initiatives in Niigata Prefecture. The new cooperative agreement was entered into in recognition of these activities and with the aim of maximizing Otsuka Pharmaceutical expertise in heat stroke countermeasures, nutritional education, and prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses to further contribute to the health of Niigata Prefecture residents.

Under the terms of the agreement, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will cooperate and collaborate in the following areas.

1. 1Activities to promote the health and wellbeing of Niigata Prefecture residents.
2. 2Activities to support the Niigata Prefecture Health Promotion Project.
3. 3Other activities to achieve the objectives of the agreement.

With the finalization of the agreement with Niigata Prefecture, Otsuka Pharmaceutical maintains cooperative agreements with all of Japan's 47 prefectural and metropolitan governments.
